A song for Holy Week
‘Come with me’ was written on a train journey into London in October 2023! I was surprised to be singing a completely new song in my head (yes not out loud!) and only had a used envelope to hand, so I wrote all the words and names of notes on that. It focuses on the life of Jesus Christ, and especially the true and wonderful story of the first Holy Week. You might like to listen to the first verse on my Song page, and the full score is available on request: https://debbielordmusician.com/contact/
These are the lyrics- there are 5 verses, and the chorus has been written so that you can sing with 2 groups- or two halves of your congregation in a call and response style. It means we can listen to each other as well as praise God! Happy Easter.

V1 Come with me on a journey to learn of the Saviour
Come with me and discover the One who walked the storm
He broke bread for the hungry, he blessed the little children
There’s a place in his heart for you and for me.
V2 Come with me on a dark night the upper room to see
Where the faithful were gathered, sharing a meal
Jesus knelt down before them and gently washed their feet
He was serving God’s purpose so they might believe.
So Sing Alleluia, worship the King
Sing of His goodness, we will praise Him
Tell of His kindness, He is Lord!
Alleluia, your love restores.
V3 Come with me as we witness the end of their evening
In a garden of ancient Olive trees
There the Lord of creation who came to seek and save us
Was denied and arrested, they led him away.
V4 Let us think of the next day when Jesus was dying,
Yes, the Man of Sorrows was rejected by His own.
He was worshipped by a soldier who recognised His glory
While his friends were despairing, so frightened and sad.
V5
There’s a promise He gave us, and a hope that can lead us
To discover the tomb on that first Easter morn’;
Jesus rose in power establishing His kingdom
He is righteous and holy, loving and true.
So Sing Alleluia, worship the King
Sing of His goodness, we will praise Him
Tell of His kindness, He is Lord!
Alleluia, your love restores.
