Debbie Lord - Didcot Piano Teacher & Singing Teacher

I enjoy getting to know people who come for lessons with me. People usually come for a first lesson and then decide whether to continue.

Parents are welcome to stay in the room during the first couple of lessons their child has with me. If there are special needs, I like to know in advance so that I can adapt as necessary.

Adult learners often want to explore a range of styles and I am happy to do this with them. Recent examples include Pop, Rock and Musical Theatre. I also encourage improvisation.

Yes, I really enjoy the learning process with beginners of all ages. With children I usually ask for them to be Year 1 at school or older; I’m happy to discuss this.

I use different resources for younger children and older children depending on their reading ability. I use a different scheme for teen and adult beginners.

No! People learning with me don’t have to take exams. It motivates some and not others! The important thing when learning any instrument is to enjoy the musical adventure and feel good about the progress you are making. For those who want to take exams, I use ABRSM materials as well as other resources.
